Plan the day you're actually having.

Most planners assume every day is the same. Wielda sizes your plan to the day in front of you, then gets out of the way.

The Wielda week view, showing each day sized to its own workload

This week

SMTWTFS

You planned today the way you plan every day.

Today had other ideas. Now it's a list of things you didn't do.

That gap is where most plans quietly come apart.

How it works

A day with Wielda

Four moments, in the order you actually hit them.

01

Get it out of your head.

Capture what you owe in one place, without deciding anything about it yet.

02

The day gets a size.

Wielda looks at what's already on your calendar and what you've actually got through on days like this one.

03

Then it fits around the rest.

A day view with your actual meetings on it, and a plan sized to what's left of the day rather than to a blank one.

04

Behind is a state, not a verdict.

One press moves what's left forward at the same time of day, however far back it goes. Nothing goes red.

What's different

Three things it does that a list does not

The day has a size before it has contents.

Wielda looks at what's already on your calendar and what you've actually got through on days like this one. Then it plans a day that fits, instead of a day that doesn't.

Behind is a state, not a verdict.

Nothing goes red. One press moves what's left forward at the same time of day, however far back it goes. There is no counter keeping score.

One thing at a time, in the context you're in.

Focus profiles for the different kinds of work you do, a timer that runs against a real task, and a day view with your actual meetings on it.

Across the week

Some days are lighter on purpose.

Wielda plans around the capacity you actually have, the way a training plan works. That's how the output holds up.

SMTWTFS

A heavy day sitting next to a light one is the plan working. No day fills to the top either, because a day with nothing left in it has nowhere to put what today didn't finish.

Wielda will not fix your week.

It won't schedule your day for you, or move your meetings, or tell you what matters. It doesn't know what your job is.

What it does is give each day its own size, and not keep score when one goes badly.

You're good at your job. Your to-do list only works on a good day.

Why this exists

The name is the argument.

Wield is a verb. It means to hold a tool, and it means to exercise authority over something. The distractions are not going away, so the answer was never going to be hiding from them.

I built two other things before this one. Both were wrong, and one of them was wrong in a way that took me a while to admit.

  • Behind is a state, not a verdict
  • Whether your week is lectures, meetings, or both

One confirmation now, one email when it's ready. Nothing else.
